How ProductDome Ranks Products: Real Search Demand, Not a Made-Up Score
ProductDome gives products no score of its own. Every category page, Best list and search result uses one order: how many people search for that brand and model each month. Ratings only break ties.
On this page
ProductDome does not give products its own score. Every category page, every Best list, the search results and the “Help me choose” picks use one order: how many people search for that brand and model each month.
Why search demand
A star rating says how happy past buyers were, but generic listings collect thousands of ratings too, and a rating cannot tell a famous model from a copy with the same photos. The number of people who type a specific brand and model into a search box is much harder to fake. When thousands of people a month look for one model by name, that model is the one shoppers actually know, compare and buy.
Where the numbers come from
For every product we list, we take its real brand and its model name, as written on the listing and checked row by row, and look up the monthly search volume for that brand and model in keyword data from public search engines. The product with the most searches for its brand and model ranks first in its category.
Ties and products without data
When two products have the same search demand, or when neither has measured searches yet, the one with more owner ratings on Amazon comes first. Ratings only break ties. They never lift a product above one that more people search for.
What gets a product listed at all
A listing appears only when it is a new product from a real brand, has a recorded price and has enough ratings or monthly sales. Generic and unbranded listings are left out. Every real brand stays, including brands sold only on Amazon. Refurbished, renewed and used listings never appear.
What we do not do
We do not test products ourselves, and payment never changes the order. Sponsored spots, when there are any, are labeled “Sponsored” where they appear.
Disclosure: ProductDome publishes this blog and runs the product catalog it links to. We describe how the catalog works rather than promise results, and we do not test products ourselves.
Key takeaways
- There is no ProductDome score. Lists are ordered by monthly search demand for each brand and model.
- Search demand is hard to fake: nobody looks up a model by name that they have never heard of.
- Owner ratings only break ties; they never lift a product above one more people search for.
- Only new products from real brands with a recorded price and enough demand are listed at all.
Frequently asked questions
Does ProductDome have its own product score?
No. Nothing on the site is a ProductDome score. Every order you see is the monthly search demand for each product's brand and model, with ratings as a tie-break.
Where does the search demand number come from?
For every listed product we take its real brand and model name, checked row by row, and look up the monthly search volume for that combination in keyword data from public search engines.
What happens to products with no search data?
They rank below products with measured demand. Among products with the same demand, or none yet, the one with more owner ratings on Amazon comes first.
