ProductDome publishes product pages, category listings, comparisons and buying guides. This policy explains how products get onto the site, where the underlying data comes from, what our content is and is not, and how we deal with mistakes.
It is written so that you can judge our content on its method rather than on our word. If anything on the site does not match what is described here, tell us through theContact Page.
Where our data comes from
Product titles, images and specifications are sourced from public Amazon product listings and, where available, from the Amazon Product Advertising API. Manufacturer documentation and public technical information are used to fill in or check specifications.
This data is supplied by sellers and manufacturers. It can be incomplete, inconsistent between listings, or simply wrong, and it changes without notice. We normalise units and attribute names so that products in the same category can be compared, but normalising a value does not verify it.
Product information on a ProductDome page may be out of date. Confirm the current details on the Amazon listing before you buy. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
How products are selected
Selection runs in the same order for every category:
- we define the category from Amazon’s own category structure, so that the set of products being compared is genuinely comparable
- we collect the products listed in that category together with their specifications and the public demand signals attached to the listing
- we remove entries that are not real products in the category, such as accessories filed under the wrong node, duplicate listings of the same item, bundles and parts
- we require a product to have enough public demand signal to show it is actually sold, rather than a listing that exists but moves no units
- we rank the remainder on category relevant attributes and completeness of data, and publish the shortlist
Variants of one product, such as colours or pack sizes, are grouped so that a single item does not occupy several places in a list.
What our content is
Our pages are written from product data and public information. They describe what a product claims to be, what its specifications say, how it compares with the alternatives in the same category, and who a given specification suits.
We do not run a laboratory and we do not carry out hands on testing. We have not measured, used, worn or taken apart the products we write about, and no page on ProductDome should be read as saying that we did. Where a page uses the word review, it means a structured write up of a product from its data and public information, not a test report.
We do not display Amazon customer reviews or star ratings on ProductDome. Where a page refers to how widely a product sells, that refers to public demand signals used during selection, not to individual customer opinions reproduced from Amazon.
Content on ProductDome is general information. It is not professional, safety, medical, legal or financial advice, and it cannot account for your particular circumstances.
Paid spots and product scores
Brands can pay for sponsored or featured spots, including spots at the top of a list. Every paid spot is clearly labeled "Sponsored" right where it appears. That label means the brand paid for the position, not that the product earned the highest score.
Payment never changes our product scores or the ranking order of other products. We only accept sponsors whose products meet the same quality standards we use for unpaid picks.
ProductDome earns advertising fees through the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Fee rates differ between Amazon categories, and we do not order or filter products by the fee rate attached to them. The commercial relationship is set out in full on theAffiliate Disclosure page.
Writing standards
Every page on the site is held to the same rules:
- a claim about a product must trace back to its listing data or to public documentation
- where data is missing we say so rather than estimating, and a product with too little data is left out of a comparison
- we avoid absolute claims such as best in the world or guaranteed results, because the data we hold cannot support them
- limitations are stated next to strengths, including cases where a product suits only a narrow use
- we do not reproduce marketing copy from a listing as though it were our own assessment
Updates and freshness
Categories are refreshed on a rolling basis. A refresh re-reads the source listings, updates specifications and images, drops products that are no longer listed, and re-runs the selection so that new products can enter a list.
Between refreshes a page can drift from the live listing. Prices and availability are never shown on ProductDome precisely because they move faster than any refresh cycle we could run.
Corrections
If we publish something wrong, we correct it. Report the page address and what is wrong through theContact Page. We check the claim against the current source data and then:
- fix a factual error in the text or the specification and update the page date
- remove or replace a product entry that no longer exists or was wrongly categorised
- note the change on the page itself where the correction materially changes a recommendation or a comparison
- tell you what we changed, if you asked us to look at it
Where a disagreement is about a claim made by the manufacturer rather than about our own text, we say clearly on the page that the specification comes from the listing and has not been independently measured.
Contact
Questions about this policy, corrections, and requests to have a product entry reviewed all go through the Contact Page. This policy may be updated, and the current version carries the last updated date shown at the top of the page.
