Overview
Heddon's X9225BON packs a 3-inch bone colored Zara Puppy body and metal treble hooks into a 14-gram topwater walking bait, sold as a single lure and built for bass fishing.
The Zara Puppy is the smaller sibling in Heddon's Zara line, scaled down for a subtler walk the dog action than the full size Zara Spook.
- 3-inch topwater walking bait
- 14 gram weight
- Bone color pattern
- Metal treble hooks
Who it's for
Bass anglers who fish topwater and want a smaller walking bait for calmer water, finesse presentations, or pressured fish that ignore larger lures. Less suited to anglers who need a bait built for casting distance in wind and chop, where the smaller Zara Puppy carries less weight than the full-size Spook.
Pros and cons
- Compact size suits finesse topwater presentations
- Classic bone color pattern
- Metal treble hooks included
- Smaller profile means less casting weight than a full-size Spook
Performance notes
Walking baits like the Zara Puppy work with a rhythmic twitch of the rod tip that makes the lure zigzag across the surface, and the metal treble hooks are what turn a surface strike into a hookup. At 14 grams and 3 inches it casts easily on light to medium spinning gear.
