Overview
Not a stiff suitcase, the Rockland rolling duffel is a soft polyester bag with a U-shaped top zipper that opens the whole main compartment. Extra large inline wheels and an aluminum telescoping handle pull it, and four front pockets hold small items.
A wide top opening makes packing quick, and low weight leaves room under airline limits. Soft sides squash rather than shield, so breakables need a hard case.
Who it's for
Short trips by car, bus or plane suit a soft duffel that packs fast from the top. Travelers carrying electronics or glass bottles should look at a hardside case.
Pros and cons
- Wide U-shaped top opening
- Large inline wheels
- Aluminum telescoping handle
- Four front pockets
- Soft sides do not protect breakables
- Only two wheels, must be tilted
- No lock listed
- No interior organizers listed
Performance notes
Large inline wheels roll over curbs and cracks more easily than small casters, but the bag has to be tilted onto them. The U-shaped zipper peels the top back, so packed items are visible at once. Water resistant fabric sheds light rain, not a downpour.
