Overview
Not a streaming box, the DVD-V9800 is a disc player that reads Blu-ray discs and sends video over HDMI. Its output tops out at 1080p Full HD, so the picture you get depends on the disc and the screen it feeds.
Buyers looking for a player that handles discs over a single HDMI cable will find the basics covered, and the black body weighs under nine pounds. The gap is apps: nothing in the listing says it connects to streaming services, so treat it as a disc machine only.
Who it's for
A room where movies come on discs and the TV has a free HDMI input suits this player. Buyers who expect built-in apps or a disc format list before ordering should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Plays Blu-ray discs
- Full HD output over HDMI
- Single HDMI cable connection
- Disc format list not listed
- No streaming apps stated
Performance notes
Picture quality is set by the disc and the screen, since the player outputs at Full HD over HDMI. A single cable carries both video and audio, so setup depends on the TV input rather than extra connections.
