PORTER-CABLE 7424XP Variable Speed Orbital Polisher 6 Inch

Overview

The PORTER-CABLE 7424XP is a corded electric tool running on 120 volts and drawing 4.5 amps, rated up to 3400 RPM and weighing 5.8 pounds. It is listed under Tools, Specialties, and the 7424 line is generally associated with random orbit finishing tools, though buyers should confirm the specific function against the product listing before ordering.

A 4.5 amp motor at up to 3400 RPM is a moderate output for a handheld corded tool, enough for sustained finishing or polishing passes without excess strain on short jobs. At 5.8 pounds it sits in the middle weight range for handheld power tools, light enough for one handed use but with enough heft to stay stable against a work surface.

Who it's for

Suits buyers doing finishing, sanding, or polishing work who want a corded tool with steady power rather than battery runtime limits. Not the right fit if you need a cordless tool for use away from an outlet.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

Corded electric motors avoid the runtime and torque drop off that come with cordless batteries, so a 4.5 amp motor here should hold its rated speed through a full session rather than tapering off as a battery drains. The 5.8 pound weight keeps it manageable for extended handheld work.
