Overview
Pyle builds the PMP40 as a handheld bullhorn with a detachable microphone, a siren mode and a volume dial. An auxiliary jack lets a smartphone, MP3 player or laptop feed audio through the horn.
A coach or safety officer gets a loud voice and a siren in one light plastic unit. Outdoor field use is the target, but the housing is not waterproof, so rain or wet sidelines are a problem.
Who it's for
Sports coaches, drill leaders and event marshals who stand outdoors in dry conditions will use it directly. Wet-weather users and anyone who dislikes buying D cells should look at a sealed model.
Pros and cons
- Siren mode built in
- Detachable handheld microphone
- Aux input for phones and laptops
- Light plastic body
- Four D batteries needed
- Range figures conflict in listing
- Tabletop mounting spec is unusual for a handheld
Performance notes
Output is set by the horn driver and the battery supply, so fresh D cells keep volume stable while weak cells make the voice sound thin. A narrow horn throws sound forward, which helps across a field but carries little to the sides.
