Overview
This RTS Home Accents rain barrel holds 50 gallons of collected rainwater in a UV-resistant polyethylene tank with a brass spigot, an overflow valve, and a flat back designed to sit against a wall or fence.
The flat-back shape is the main design choice here, trading some capacity for a footprint that fits against a foundation or fence line rather than a freestanding round barrel needing open space. An overflow valve diverts excess water once the tank fills, and multiple barrels can be linked for more storage. Made in the USA; a stand is sold separately.
- 50-gallon capacity
- UV-resistant polyethylene
- Brass spigot
- Flat back for tight spaces
Who it's for
Gardeners collecting downspout runoff for lawn and garden watering, especially where space near the house is tight. Less useful if a fully round barrel or one with a stand already included is preferred.
Pros and cons
- Flat back fits tight against walls or fences
- Brass spigot resists wear better than plastic
- Overflow valve manages excess water
- Barrels can link for added storage
- Stand sold separately
- 50-gallon capacity may empty fast in dry spells
Performance notes
Polyethylene resists UV breakdown so the tank should not become brittle from sun exposure over seasons outdoors. The brass spigot at the base is the wear point most barrels fail at first, so a metal fitting here should outlast a plastic one for drawing water into a can or hose.
