Overview
A porch session in the Appalachian tradition is the image Ibanez uses for this M510DVS, a driving, melodic instrument. It is an A-style mandolin with a select spruce top, chrome hardware and pearl dot inlay.
The spruce and mahogany combination and the glossy dark finish make it a traditional-looking acoustic. The listing does not describe a case, strap or pickup, so those would be extra.
Who it's for
A mandolin player drawn to melodic, driving folk and bluegrass sounds gets a conventional acoustic design here. Anyone needing amplified playing or a case in the package should look at a different model.
Pros and cons
- Spruce top, mahogany back and sides
- Pearl dot inlay
- No pickup listed
- Case not mentioned
- Fingerboard wood unstated
Performance notes
The spruce top does most of the sound producing on a mandolin, with the mahogany body behind it. Eight alloy steel strings run across the neck, and output is acoustic only.
