Firefield 20-60x60SE Spotting Scope Kit

Overview

The Firefield FF11018K is a 20-60x zoom spotting scope with a 60mm objective lens in a black plastic housing.

The 20-60x zoom range lets a user start wide to find a target, then increase magnification for detail, more versatile than a fixed power scope though images typically dim and soften somewhat at the top of that range. A field of view figure of 37 is listed without units, so it should be confirmed against Firefield's published spec before comparing it to other scopes.

• 20-60x zoom magnification
• 60mm objective lens
• Black plastic housing

Who it's for

Suits a buyer who wants zoom flexibility over a single fixed magnification and is comfortable with a plastic rather than metal body. Less suited to anyone prioritizing the sharpest possible image at high power, where fixed magnification glass scopes tend to have an edge.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

The 20-60x zoom paired with a 60mm objective gives a wide working range from broad scene finding to closer detail, at the cost of some brightness and sharpness loss at the far end of the zoom, typical of variable power scopes.
