Berkley PowerBait Trout Nibbles Dough Bait

Overview

A 1.1 ounce jar of Berkley's floating dough bait, PowerBait Trout Nibbles in fluorescent orange, meant to be pinched onto a hook as scented bait rather than fished with a lure.

Dough style baits like this work by combining a floating texture with a scent blend, so the bait sits up off bottom rigs and releases attractant in the water column instead of lying flat on the bottom. The listing's target species field lists bass and panfish, broader than the Trout Nibbles name suggests, so treat trout as the primary use and the rest as secondary.

Who it's for

Bait anglers fishing stillwater or slow water for trout, panfish or bass who want a scented dough bait rather than live bait or hard lures. A common choice for kids or beginner anglers because it needs no rigging skill beyond pinching a small ball onto a hook.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

The floating property keeps the bait suspended above bottom debris on a standard rig, and the fluorescent orange color adds visual attraction in stained or low light water on top of the scent. It's a small 1.1 ounce jar, so expect to use it up over a handful of trips rather than a full season.
