Overview
Zinc-coated steel coils wrap around an elastic band that stretches over the shoe, so grip is spread across the full sole. A heel tab makes the cleats easy to put on and take off.
Walkers who face icy sidewalks get traction without changing footwear, and the band lets the cleats come off indoors. The listing is vague on the shoe sizes that count as Large, and it is built for walking rather than running or steep ice.
Who it's for
Dog walkers, commuters and casual hikers who meet packed snow and ice will use them as designed. Runners and mountaineers should look at gear built for those jobs.
Pros and cons
- Steel coils grip all around the sole
- Easy-on heel tab
- Abrasion and rust resistant coating
- Light enough to carry in a pocket
- Shoe size range not listed
- Not for running or steep ice
- Coils wear on bare pavement
Performance notes
Coiled steel bites into ice from every direction as the foot rolls, which gives grip in forward and sideways steps. The elastic band holds the coils against the sole, and bare floors reduce grip and wear the coils.
