Overview
Running on air rather than battery, the DEWALT DWFP12231 is a nailer that stays light at 2.65 pounds and compact at 13 x 3.7 x 12 inches, built for trim and finish carpentry work driven by a shop compressor.
Listed explicitly as not battery powered, this nailer relies on an air compressor connection, which trades cordless convenience for the lighter, more compact tool body that air power allows. At 2.65 pounds it stays easy to control for extended trim work.
- Air powered finish nailer
- 2.65 pound weight
- 13 x 3.7 x 12 inch body
Who it's for
Finish carpenters and DIYers doing trim, molding, or cabinetry work who already have or are willing to run an air compressor are the fit. Buyers wanting a cordless nailer should look elsewhere, since this model requires a compressor hookup.
Pros and cons
- Light at 2.65 pounds for extended trim work
- Compact 13 x 3.7 x 12 inch body
- Requires an air compressor, unlike cordless nailers
- No battery option if compressor is unavailable
Performance notes
Running on air power rather than battery keeps the tool body down to 2.65 pounds, since it carries no onboard battery or motor weight. That lighter build favors control during repeated trim and molding cuts, at the cost of needing a compressor and hose on site.
