Overview
The Vanguard Endeavor HD 65A is a 65mm spotting scope with manual focus and a 144 foot field of view, measuring about 13.6 by 7.1 by 3.25 inches.
A 65mm objective lens sits between the compact 50mm scopes and the larger 80mm long range units, a middle ground for buyers who want more reach than an entry scope without the bulk of a full size one. The listed weight for this unit looks like a data error rather than a real spec, so it is left out here rather than repeated as fact.
- 65mm objective lens
- 144 foot field of view
- Manual focus
Who it's for
Suits birders and hunters wanting a mid size, manual focus scope with a wide 144 foot field of view for tracking moving subjects. Not the pick for anyone who specifically wants the largest lens available for maximum low light reach.
Pros and cons
- Wide 144 foot field of view helps track movement
- 65mm lens is a practical mid size choice
- Manual focus only, no motorized assist
- Listed weight figure appears unreliable
Performance notes
The 144 foot field of view is wide for a spotting scope, which helps with picking up and following movement, something a narrower field makes harder. Manual focus keeps sharpness adjustment simple and mechanical rather than motorized.
