Overview
The Zebco ZCASTC56TEL is a telescopic casting rod, 5 foot 6 inches long, built from fiberglass with medium power and rated for 12 pound line. It is finished in red and marketed toward trout fishing.
Telescoping sections collapse the rod down for storage or travel, a convenience that trades a bit of consistency in action compared to a fixed one or two-piece blank. Fiberglass adds flex and durability over graphite, generally making for a more forgiving rod on hooksets and less prone to snapping under sudden pressure.
- 5 foot 6 inch telescopic casting rod
- Fiberglass blank, medium power
- Rated for 12 pound line
- Marketed for trout fishing
Who it's for
Anglers who want a compact, easy-to-transport casting rod for trout-class fishing, including travel or car camping trips. Specialists chasing bigger species or wanting a stiffer, more sensitive graphite blank should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Telescopes down for compact storage or travel
- Fiberglass blank resists snapping under strain
- Medium power matches 12 lb line rating
- Telescoping joints can affect action feel
- Only offered in this 5'6 length and red color
Performance notes
Fiberglass construction flexes more than graphite through the length of the blank, which softens hooksets and reduces the chance of snapping under sudden strain, at some cost to sensitivity for feeling light bites. The telescoping joints add convenience for storage but can introduce small inconsistencies in the rod's action compared to a single continuous blank.
