Overview
Small apartments and home offices on a basic cable plan suit this NETGEAR unit, which combines a cable modem and a dual-band router. It replaces a rented gateway on certified providers.
One box for modem and WiFi cuts clutter and replaces a rented unit. Speeds top out well below modern fast plans, and the WiFi is an older standard.
Who it's for
Students, retirees and small offices on entry cable speeds get modem and WiFi in one. Gamers and streaming-heavy homes on fast plans need a faster modem.
Pros and cons
- Modem and router in one
- Certified with major cable providers
- Dual band WiFi
- DoS attack prevention
- Not for cable voice
- Older WiFi standard
- Speed ceiling limits faster plans
Performance notes
Download speed is capped by the modem's channel bonding and the cable plan, whichever is lower. WiFi range and speed follow the older standard, so distant rooms see slower links.
