Overview
A rotary fly tying vise sold under the model name 102 Supreme, built to hold a hook steady while wrapping and rotating materials during fly tying.
Rotary vises let the angler spin the hook in place to wrap thread and materials evenly around the shank, which is the main reason tyers choose a rotary design over a fixed one. Beyond that mechanism, detailed specs for this particular vise are not provided.
- Rotary fly tying vise
- Model name 102 Supreme
- Built for practical fly tying
- Holds hook while wrapping materials
Who it's for
Fly tyers who want a rotary vise to hold hooks while tying. Anglers who do not tie flies have no use for this.
Pros and cons
- Rotary design allows even wraps around the hook shank
- Built specifically for fly tying use
- Detailed specs such as jaw capacity or materials are not provided
Performance notes
A rotary vise's value comes from spinning the hook on its own axis so thread and material wraps stay even along the shank, rather than requiring the tyer to rotate the whole vise or their wrist.
