Overview
A living room with an Ultra HD TV is where this Panasonic player fits, upscaling standard Blu-rays to suit the screen and playing stereoscopic discs. Built-in Wi-Fi streams content, mirrors phones with Miracast and pulls files from networked devices.
Owners of a disc collection and an Ultra HD TV get sharper upscaled pictures plus stereoscopic support in one box. It is an upscaling player, not one that plays Ultra HD Blu-ray discs.
Who it's for
Viewers with existing Blu-ray and stereoscopic collections suit this player. Anyone buying new Ultra HD discs needs a player built for that format.
Pros and cons
- Upscales Blu-ray for Ultra HD TVs
- Plays 3D and converts 2D to 3D
- Miracast phone mirroring
- DLNA access to home media
- No Ultra HD disc playback listed
- Single HDMI output
- Streaming apps not listed
Performance notes
Picture sharpness on an Ultra HD TV comes from the upscaling processor, which fills in detail from Full HD discs. Network features depend on Wi-Fi signal strength where the player is placed.
