Overview
A 4 pound bag of Viva Naturals organic white quinoa sourced from the Andean Plateau, pre-washed and mechanically de-saponized. It is USDA organic, non-GMO, gluten free, vegan and kosher, with 6g protein and 3g fiber per serving.
The grain itself is described as larger and rounder than typical varieties, though at least one reviewer found sandy grit in a bag and had to rinse it anyway.
- 4 lb bag, organic white quinoa
- Pre-washed, de-saponized
- 6g protein, 3g fiber per serving
- USDA organic, non-GMO, kosher
Who it's for
Good for households that go through quinoa regularly and want to buy in bulk rather than repurchasing small boxes. Less ideal if you cook only occasionally, since 4 pounds is a lot to work through before it goes stale.
Pros and cons
- 4 lb bulk bag is a lower cost per serving than small boxes
- Cooks light and fluffy with no bitterness
- Zip lock packaging keeps it fresh
- Works well in a rice cooker
- One buyer found sandy grit in a bag
- Large quantity may go unused if you cook quinoa rarely
Performance notes
It holds up in soups, salads, grain bowls and breakfast bowls without turning gummy according to repeat buyers.
