Overview
Corded and rated for 3800 strokes per minute, the PORTER-CABLE PCE700 plugs into a standard 120 volt outlet and is built with a steel and metal housing rather than running off a battery.
Corded jig saws in this speed range are built for cutting wood, plastic and thin metal with a blade that cycles up and down rather than a spinning disc, and PORTER-CABLE positions the PCE700 in that corded category. Running on house current instead of a battery means no charge time and no runtime limit, at the cost of needing an outlet nearby.
- 120 volt corded electric power
- 3800 strokes per minute
- Metal and steel construction
- 4.5 average rating
Who it's for
DIYers and homeowners who want a corded jig saw for occasional cutting jobs around the house. Not the choice for anyone who needs to cut away from an outlet.
Pros and cons
- Corded operation means no battery to charge or replace
- Steel and metal construction
- Corded design limits use to where an outlet reaches
- Fewer monthly buyers than other saws here
Performance notes
Running at 3800 strokes per minute on corded power, the saw does not slow down as a charge depletes the way a cordless model can, though it does require staying within reach of an outlet or extension cord.
