Overview
DonJoy builds the Velocity as a hinged ankle brace with rigid uprights on each side and a low profile that fits inside a shoe. The hinges let the ankle flex naturally while the frame resists rolling.
Hinges allow normal up and down motion, so walking and running feel natural while side rolling is limited. It suits both healing a sprain and preventing the next one. The brand sells several support levels, and this listing does not say which one this is.
Who it's for
Players and runners with a history of ankle sprains get firm side support that still flexes. People with mild aches who want a light sleeve will find it more brace than they need.
Pros and cons

Performance notes
Rigid uprights on both sides block the inward and outward roll that causes sprains, while the hinges leave up and down motion free. Ratcheted compression around the lower leg sets how snugly it holds. Fit inside the shoe affects how well it stays in place.
