Overview
Not a hand-slid hammer on a rod, this tool is driven by shop air and fires by trigger. Threads on both the tool and its extension accept common slide hammer attachments, so one hammer handles many pulls.
Technicians who found the compact air hammer short on force get a larger body built for more power and more room to work. The maker is honest that no tool beats every seized part, and the power scales with air volume and pressure.
Who it's for
Mechanics with a compressor who fight rusted hubs and other stubborn pulls. Cramped work areas favor the maker's smaller stubby model instead.
Pros and cons
- Air power replaces swinging a weight
- Measurably stronger than the compact version
- Common attachment thread on tool and extension
- Needs an air compressor
- Bulky for tight spaces
- Pull attachments not listed in contents
Performance notes
Hammer blows come from compressed air striking the shaft, so the force follows the compressor output feeding the fitting. A stronger body means more power than the stubby version, but a hub seized by rust may still need heat or another method.
