Overview
Recording family events and travel in Ultra HD is the job here: this Panasonic camcorder pairs a long optical zoom with hybrid stabilization. A connected smartphone can feed a second angle as a picture in picture window.
Parents and travelers get sharp video, a long zoom and the option to pull stills from any frame. The small sensor and consumer controls make it less suited to dim venues or pro work.
Who it's for
Families and travelers who want a dedicated video camera beyond a phone suit it. Wedding and event pros needing pro audio inputs should look at a larger camcorder.
Pros and cons
- Long optical zoom
- Stills pulled from any frame
- Phone as wireless second camera
- HDR reduces blown highlights
- Small sensor in low light
- No pro audio inputs listed
- Twin Video needs a compatible phone
Performance notes
Detail depends on light, as the small sensor gets noisy in dim rooms. Hybrid stabilization steadies long zoom shots, and HDR evens out bright and dark areas in high contrast scenes.
