Overview
Leupold's 120374 is a compact spotting scope with a 10-20x zoom eyepiece and a 40mm objective lens, weighing 1.1 lb in a shadow gray aluminum housing.
Compared to the larger 85mm and 80mm scopes in this set, the 40mm objective and 1.1 lb weight put this one closer to a pack-along size, with a listed field of view of 199 feet at the wide end of its zoom range.
- 10-20x zoom on a 40mm objective
- Weighs 1.1 lb
- Aluminum housing in shadow gray
- Field of view listed at 199 feet
Who it's for
Fits hikers and hunters who want something light enough to carry all day and don't need the light-gathering of a bigger objective. Not the choice for low-light glassing at dawn or dusk, where a larger objective helps more.
Pros and cons
- Light at 1.1 lb for pack carry
- 10-20x zoom range in a compact body
- 199 foot field of view
- Smaller 40mm objective limits low-light brightness versus larger scopes
Performance notes
The 40mm objective is the smallest in this group of Leupold and Vanguard scopes, which keeps weight down to 1.1 lb but limits low-light brightness compared with the 60mm, 80mm and 85mm alternatives; the 10-20x zoom range and 199 foot field of view suit daytime observation over long-range low-light use.
