ASIN: B00TP1C1UCModel: 1702Category: Surge Protectors
Overview
Six standard outlets, a 6 foot cord and a 790 joule rating make up the Amazon Basics 1702, a plain surge protector built for everyday electronics rather than heavy duty equipment. It fits anyone who wants a no frills strip for a home or office.
This sits at the basic end of the surge protector category, without USB ports or a widely spaced outlet layout, just six standard outlets and a joule rating meant for routine spikes rather than heavy duty equipment. The tradeoff for that simplicity is a single row of six outlets rather than a design built to keep large adapters from blocking each other.
- 790 joule, 3 line surge protection rating
- 15 amp circuit breaker
- 125 volts, 1875 watts, 60Hz rated
- 11.5 x 2.04 x 1.4 inch footprint
Who it's for
Good for anyone who wants a reliable, no frills surge strip for lamps, small appliances and electronics around the home or office, without needing USB charging built in. Less suited to someone who wants USB ports on the same strip or the widest possible outlet spacing for large adapters.
Pros and cons
- 6 foot cord gives reasonable reach
- Circuit breaker and LED indicator confirm active protection
- Priced as a basic, no frills option
- No USB ports
- Single row outlet layout, not spaced for large adapters
- LED indicator light described as too bright by at least one reviewer
Performance notes
The 790 joule rating runs through a 15A circuit breaker, protecting against routine voltage spikes on connected lamps, electronics and small appliances rather than major surges.
