Overview
Mounting on deck as a horizontal unit, this windlass adds an automatic free-fall system to the usual powered retrieve. The kit holds the breaker, switch, solenoid and a drilling template for the install.
Free-fall suits an angler who repositions often, since the anchor drops without hovering at the throttle. The kit is complete for a do-it-yourself install. The limitation is inconsistent data on maximum pull between title and description.
Who it's for
A boat owner who anchors on reefs and structure and values a quick drop will use the automatic drop most. Those with larger boats, other chain sizes or a need for a vertical unit should not choose this one.
Pros and cons
- Auto free-fall speeds anchor drops
- Complete kit with breaker and solenoid
- 316 stainless resists corrosion
- Drilling template included
- Pull rating differs between title and copy
- Chain size fixed to one gauge
- Material field says Other
- Wiring and tools not listed
Performance notes
The free-fall system lets chain pay out under the anchor weight without the motor running, so drop speed depends on anchor mass and chain. Retrieve force comes from the motor and gearing and drops when voltage sags on long cable runs.
