Overview
Not a wood or liquid fuel burner, the Jetboil Genesis Basecamp runs on propane through an included fuel regulator. A windscreen shields the flame and a carry bag holds the stove between trips.
A complete package of regulator, windscreen and bag makes the Genesis Basecamp ready for a campsite table once a propane source is on hand. The spec sheet is sparse, giving no burner count, simmer range or cook surface size, so cooks planning big meals have little to go on.
Who it's for
Campsite cooking where the car hauls the gear and a propane source is already part of the kit suits this stove. Hikers carrying everything on their back should look for a smaller stove.
Pros and cons
- Fuel regulator included
- Carry bag for storage
- Instructions in the box
- Burner count not listed
- Propane fuel sold separately
- Heavy for backpacking
- No cookware in the box
Performance notes
Heat delivered to the pot depends on the regulator setting, the burner output and how well the windscreen blocks crosswinds. On breezy sites the screen does much of the work, and a level table helps the flame reach the pan evenly.
