Wall-mounted vent-free heater running on natural gas, built for rooms up to about 700 square feet. Electronic ignition and a built-in thermostat handle day to day operation without any outdoor venting or electrical hookup.

This is the natural gas version of Mr. Heater's 20,000 BTU vent-free radiant line, so it needs a gas line rather than a propane tank, which makes it more of a semi-permanent install than a portable unit. The battery-powered ignition means it still lights during a power outage. A blower fan that pushes heat further into a room is sold separately as model F299201.

Performance notes

The burner tiles radiate heat directly into the room rather than blowing warm air, so nearby surfaces and people warm quickly while the far side of a large room takes longer to catch up. The built-in thermostat cycles the burner to hold a set temperature automatically, and the low-oxygen sensor shuts the unit off if room ventilation isn't adequate, a restriction that gets stricter above 4,500 feet elevation.
