Overview
Wrapping around the shoulders or stretched over a campsite, this Arcturus blanket works as a reflective layer and a small tarp. Three layers and reinforced grommets let it be tied off, and the shell blocks wind and water.
The advantage is a reusable blanket sturdier than a foil sheet, with grommets for rigging and a bag for storage. It suits backpacking and car emergency kits. The limitation is that the listing gives no packed size, and the heat reflection claim comes from the title.
Who it's for
Backpackers and car owners who want an emergency blanket that doubles as a small shelter will use the grommets and the bag. Anyone needing a sleeping bag, a large group shelter or exact packed dimensions should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Reusable and more durable than foil sheets
- Grommets allow tie-down rigging
- Waterproof and windproof shell
- Carry bag included
- Packed size not listed
- Hand wash only
- Heat claim comes from title
- Not a sleeping bag
Performance notes
A reflective layer returns body heat while the outer shell blocks wind, which is where most heat loss happens. Moisture can still condense inside a waterproof sheet. As a tarp, it works only as well as its tie-out points and the tension you apply.
