Overview
The Redington VICE is a fast-action freshwater fly rod built with a machined aluminum reel seat and a laser-etched model reference, shipped in a cordura tube with rod dividers.
- Fast action tuned for distance and larger flies
- Anodized machined aluminum reel seat
- Laser-etched model reference for identification
- Cordura tube with built-in rod dividers included
Who it's for
Suits anglers who already know how a fast-action rod loads and want reach on bigger water or with weighted flies. Beginners or small-stream dry-fly anglers may prefer a medium-action rod instead, based on reviewer feedback.
Pros and cons
- Casts weighted flies and sink lines with less effort
- Machined aluminum reel seat holds up well
- Comes with a cordura travel tube and dividers
- Backed by a lifetime warranty
- Fast action is hard to time for casting beginners
- Not suited to short casts on small streams
- One reported case of a section breaking under a large fish
Performance notes
The reel seat is anodized machined aluminum with the model reference laser-etched on for identification, and the rod breaks down into the included cordura tube with internal dividers.
