Overview
Aquaboon makes these pleated polyester cartridges to catch sand, rust and dirt ahead of a whole house or reverse osmosis system. Each one drops into a matching standard housing, and the folded media gives a large surface area to hold debris.
Pleated media with a large dirt-holding surface stretches the time between changes, and the multi-pack covers many swaps. The job is particles only: chlorine, taste and chemicals are outside what it claims to treat.
Who it's for
Homes on wells with sand and rust in the water get a supply of cartridges for an existing housing. Households needing chemical or taste reduction will need a carbon stage as well.
Pros and cons
- Pleated media holds more sediment
- Six cartridges per pack
- Universal fit for matching housings
- Shields plumbing and appliances from sediment
- Service life not listed
- Sediment only, no chemical reduction
- Housing sold separately
Performance notes
Particles larger than the micron rating catch in the polyester folds, while water passes through the wide surface area with little restriction. As the pleats load with sand and rust, flow drops, which signals a change. Heavier sediment shortens each cartridge's run.
