Overview
The Hitachi NR83A5 is a framing nailer that weighs 9.1 pounds and runs without a battery, meaning it is powered by compressed air rather than cordless.
The battery: No spec confirms pneumatic operation, which requires an air compressor and hose rather than a charged pack. Hitachi built the NR83A5 as a full-size framing nailer for two-handed use on framing jobs rather than trim work.
- 9.1 lb weight
- Air powered, no battery
- Hitachi NR83A5 model
Who it's for
Fits framing crews or DIYers who already run an air compressor and need a full-size nail gun. Not a fit for anyone wanting a cordless nailer or a lighter tool for trim and finish work.
Pros and cons
- Full-size framing capacity
- No battery to charge or replace
- Needs a separate air compressor
- Heavy at 9.1 pounds for overhead work
Performance notes
Pneumatic framing nailers depend on a compressor for power, trading the runtime limits of a battery for the need to haul a hose and compressor to the job site. At 9.1 pounds it takes some effort to swing overhead for long stretches.
