Overview
Streaming movies, shows and live TV services through one box, this Roku player connects by Wi-Fi or Ethernet and plays local files from USB or micro SD. Its voice remote controls TV power and volume, carries a headphone jack and can be found when lost.
Remote features set it apart within the Roku range: private listening through earbuds, TV power and volume control and a lost remote finder save daily hassle. The listing conflicts on resolution, naming ultra HD in the title but full HD in the bullets.
Who it's for
Families and cord cutters who use services like Sling or DirecTV NOW get a capable box with wired networking and remote extras. Buyers who must confirm ultra HD output from the listing alone should check Roku's spec page first.
Pros and cons
- Headphone jack in the remote
- Lost remote finder
- TV power and volume buttons
- Ethernet for wired streaming
- Resolution claims conflict in the listing
- Box form needs shelf space
- HDR formats not named
Performance notes
Smoothness comes from the quad core processor and the choice of Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet link, which steadies high bitrate streams. Picture output adapts to the TV, so an HD set gets HD and an ultra HD set gets more detail if the player supports it. Search runs across channels from the remote.
