Overview

The Intex Dura-Beam Standard is a 10-inch raised twin air mattress built with internal fiber beams instead of the simple air-chamber design of basic inflatables, rated to hold up to 300 pounds. An air pump is not included and must be bought separately.

Fiber-Tech beam construction is the difference from a cheap inflatable mattress: thousands of internal polyester fibers connect the top and bottom layers, which is what lets it hold shape and weight without the sinking or dipping that flat-chamber air beds develop over time. Intex notes new mattresses will stretch and can feel like they're losing air during the first few nights, which is expected settling rather than a leak, with the bed described as fully settled after two to three nights.

  • Fiber-Tech beam internal construction
  • 10 inch raised height, twin size
  • 300 lb weight capacity
  • 2-in-1 wide-opening valve, pump sold separately

Who it's for

Works well as a guest bed at home or for camping trips where a raised, supportive air mattress matters more than the lowest possible price. Buyers need their own pump, since none comes in the box, and anyone expecting zero pressure loss on night one should know the stretch-in period is normal.

Strengths and trade-offs

Drawn from this product's published specifications.

What stands out
  • Fiber beams resist sagging better than basic beds
  • Rated for up to 300 pounds
  • Soft flocked surface, easy to clean
  • Wide 2-in-1 valve for inflate and deflate
What to check first
  • Pump not included, sold separately
  • New mattress stretches for first 2-3 nights
  • Twin size only in this listing

Performance notes

Thousands of high-strength polyester fibers run between the top and bottom of the mattress in a beam pattern, giving it more resistance to sagging under weight than a simple air chamber, up to a stated 300 lb capacity. A 2-in-1 valve with a wide opening handles both inflation and deflation, though the pump itself is sold separately. The surface is a soft flocked material that Intex says is easy to clean, and new mattresses will stretch and lose some firmness over the first two to three nights before settling into their final shape.
