Overview
Shimano built the PD-EH500 as a dual-sided pedal with an SPD clip-in side and a flat side, in aluminum and black. The listing points it at indoor cycling and urban riding.
Two sides let a rider switch between cycling shoes and everyday shoes without changing pedals. The thread size field holds a stray number, and cleats are not mentioned.
Who it's for
Commuters and indoor cyclists who like both clip-in and flat use are the target. Racing cyclists who want a dedicated clipless pedal should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Clip-in and flat sides
- Longer manufacturer warranty
- Cleats not listed
- Thread size field unclear
- Platform size not described
Performance notes
The SPD side holds a cleated shoe for pedaling efficiency, while the flat side takes any shoe for short trips. Which side faces up on a ride sets the feel.
