Overview
The Chicco 05079578160070 is a rear-facing infant car seat rated to 22 pounds, installing with either a seatbelt lock-off or the LATCH system, and weighing 16 pounds.
It is built and installs as a rear-facing infant seat only, using either a vehicle seatbelt with a lock-off or the LATCH anchors, whichever your car supports. The metal, plastic, and polyester build accounts for the 16 pound seat weight, worth knowing if you plan to carry it in and out of the car by hand.
- Orientation: rear facing
- Weight capacity: 22 pounds
- Installation: belt lock-off or LATCH
- Item weight: 16 pounds
Who it's for
Parents of a newborn or young infant who want a rear-facing seat with a choice of belt or LATCH installation. It is not sized as a convertible seat, so families planning to keep one seat through toddlerhood should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Works with belt lock-off or LATCH installation
- 16 pound shell is manageable to carry
- 22 pound capacity means an earlier seat switch
- Rear-facing only, no convertible option
Performance notes
Installation runs through either a belt lock-off or the LATCH system, so the fit depends on which anchor points your vehicle offers. The 22 pound weight capacity and rear-facing-only orientation mark this as an infant seat meant for the newborn stage rather than a convertible design.
