Overview
The Metabo NV83A5 is an air powered coil nailer weighing 8.8 pounds, built without a battery so it runs off a compressor line. It sits in Metabo's Nailers range for framing and structural fastening work.
Coil nailers like the NV83A5 hold more fasteners per load than strip nailers, cutting down on reloading during framing runs. At 8.8 pounds it is light for extended overhead or upright work compared with many corded framing tools, and running on air rather than battery means no charge cycles to manage on site. Buyers need a compressor and air line to use it, since it has no battery option.
- Air powered coil nailer
- 8.8 pounds
- No battery required
Who it's for
Framers and contractors who already run an air compressor on site and want a coil nailer for continuous fastening work. Not suited to anyone without compressor access, since this tool has no battery mode.
Pros and cons
- Air powered with no battery to charge
- 8.8 pound body is light for extended use
- Coil format holds more fasteners per load
- Requires a compressor and air hose to operate
- Plastic housing components on some parts
Performance notes
Running on shop air rather than a battery means the NV83A5 avoids charge time and battery weight, which matters over a full day of framing. At 8.8 pounds it is manageable for one handed use, and the plastic housing components help keep that weight down without adding the bulk of an all metal body.
