Overview
A home brewing shelf or closet corner can hold this Fermonster carboy, a wide mouth PET plastic fermenter that arrives with a drilled stopper and a three piece Econolock airlock. A Fermonster carrier is included to help haul it around.
A complete fermenter set with the carrier in the box is the reason to look at it, so the buyer does not hunt for a stopper or airlock. The limitation is material and information: it is plastic, and the listing offers few specifications beyond the volume and size.
Who it's for
Beer and wine makers fermenting full batches who prefer a lighter plastic vessel and a carrier for hauling it. The wide mouth helps with filling and cleaning access. Anyone who wants glass should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Wide mouth for filling and cleaning
- Drilled stopper and airlock included
- Carrier included for moving
- Light empty weight
- PET plastic, not glass
- Few specs listed
- Stopper size fixed at one number
- Color and brand details not given
Performance notes
The drilled stopper seats in the wide mouth and carries the airlock, which lets fermentation gas leave while keeping the batch sealed from the outside. Plastic walls keep the vessel light, and the carrier gives a grip for lifting and moving the filled carboy.
