ASIN: B07QDW1B3KCategory: Refrigerator Water Filters
Overview
This 3-pack generic replacement fits GE's XWF refrigerator water filter slot (not XWFE), sized for GNE27, GFE26, GDE25 and GSS25 series French door and side-by-side models.
GE splits its filter line into XWF and XWFE versions, and this filter is built strictly for the XWF slot, a distinction the listing repeats in bold because mixing them up is a common mistake. One reviewer described peeling the RFID sticker off an old XWFE cartridge and applying it to this filter to make it read as compatible, a workaround worth knowing about but not something the manufacturer endorses.
- Fits GNE27, GFE26, GDE25, GSS25 series
- 6 month or 200 gallon filter life
- Coconut shell carbon block
- NSF 42/372 lead-free material certification
Who it's for
GE refrigerator owners running an XWF-compatible model who want a 3-pack alternative to the pricier OEM cartridge. Not the right filter for XWFE-slot fridges without the RFID sticker workaround.
Pros and cons
- Three filters last well over a year
- Cheaper than the OEM GE cartridge
- No leaks reported by most buyers
- Not built for the XWFE filter slot
- Using it in an XWFE fridge requires transferring the RFID sticker yourself
Performance notes
A coconut shell activated carbon block does the filtering, rated to NSF 42 and 372 standards for lead-free materials and reduction of chlorine, odor and listed heavy metals per the manufacturer's lab testing claim. Rated life is 6 months or 200 gallons, and the pack includes date stickers so you can track when to swap it.
