Overview
Not an electric grinder, the LHS mill is a hand-turned coffee grinder in a slim black plastic body. Turning it by hand means it works anywhere, from a kitchen counter to a campsite, with nothing to plug in.
Portability is the case for it: a narrow, light body that moves from a kitchen drawer to a backpack. What it grinds with and how fine it goes are not stated in the specs, which leaves espresso drinkers guessing.
Who it's for
Suits a single coffee drinker brewing at the office, in a tent or while traveling. People who grind large batches daily, or who need a documented espresso grind, will want a grinder with full specs.
Pros and cons
- No power source needed
- Light enough for a backpack
- Slim body stores in a drawer
- Works at home, office or camp
- Burr type and grind settings not listed
- Plastic body, not metal
- Hand grinding takes effort for big batches
Performance notes
Grind consistency on a hand mill comes from how steady the grinding parts stay as you turn, and a plastic body flexes more under load than a metal one. Speed depends on your turning pace and the coarseness you grind to, so fine grounds take longer and more effort.
