Overview
The VTech VM901 is a wireless video baby monitor with 1080p camera resolution and VTech's Starlight night vision mode. It runs on battery power, so the parent unit is not tethered to an outlet.
The step up here from many entry level monitors is the 1080p feed, which should render a sharper picture than the 480p or 720p units common at lower prices. Starlight night vision is VTech's branded low light mode, aimed at giving a clearer nighttime image than basic infrared.
- 1080p video resolution
- Starlight night vision
- Wireless connectivity
- Battery powered operation
Who it's for
Fits parents who want a sharper video feed than a budget monitor typically delivers and who value cord free portability for the parent unit. Not the pick for anyone needing confirmed long range or multi camera specs, since those are not listed.
Pros and cons
- 1080p resolution for a sharper picture than typical monitors
- Starlight night vision for improved low light viewing
- Battery powered parent unit, no cord tether
- No listed transmission range
- No mention of two way talk or additional camera support
- Battery life duration not specified
Performance notes
1080p resolution should give a noticeably crisper image than lower resolution baby monitors, particularly useful when checking on a sleeping baby from across a room. Starlight night vision is designed to improve on standard infrared, though exact low light performance will vary by room darkness.
