Overview
Not a plain cake pan, this is a double boiler style flan mold. An aluminum pot and inner pan nest together under a glass lid so the dessert cooks in a water bath.
Choose it for flan and other custard desserts where a gentle water bath is wanted. The inner pan holds the dessert, and the set goes in the dishwasher for cleanup. Stovetop, induction and temperature limits are not stated, so check before using it outside the oven.
Who it's for
Cooks who make flan regularly will use both the inner pan and the lid. Bakers wanting a nonstick coating or a large batch should look at other cookware, since the listing shows neither.
Pros and cons
- Inner pan included
- Glass lid for covering
- Heat limits and stovetop use not listed
- Coating type is unclear
- Capacity suits a single flan
Performance notes
A water bath cooks flan with gentle, even heat because the water around the inner pan holds a steady temperature. Aluminum conducts heat quickly, and the glass lid traps steam. Results depend on water depth and oven temperature, neither of which the listing specifies.
