Overview
A plain edge on one side and a saw on the spine give the Gerber machete two ways to cut: chopping brush and sawing through limbs. The textured Gator Grip handle holds in wet or dry hands, and a riveted nylon sheath carries it.
Having a saw on the same blade saves carrying a separate pruning saw for thicker branches. Corrosion resistant steel suits damp work. The toothed spine means you cannot use the back edge for batoning or pushing.
Who it's for
Yard work, trail clearing and camp chores where both chopping and sawing come up. Bushcrafters who baton through wood will want a plain backed blade.
Pros and cons
- Chop and saw in one tool
- Grippy rubberized handle
- Corrosion resistant steel
- Sheath for carry
- Saw spine limits batoning
- Sheath is nylon, not leather
- Edge angle unstated
Performance notes
Blade length and weight set chopping force, while the saw handles wood too thick to chop cleanly. High carbon stainless holds an edge and resists rust better than plain carbon steel. The rubber grip absorbs some shock on hard strikes.
