Overview
NS Design builds the WAV4 as a four string electric cello with a maple body, a self-powered Polar Pickup System and a quarter inch output. The description also names an adjustable tripod stand among its features.
The reason to look at it is the onboard pickup system, which the maker offers as the answer for cellists whose acoustic instrument sounded poor through effects pedals. The limitation is that amplification is not part of the listing, and the stand is mentioned only in the description.
Who it's for
Cellists who want a full-size instrument they can plug in, from beginners to seasoned players, are the intended audience. Buyers who need a confirmed stand, amplifier or cable in the package should check with the seller before ordering.
Pros and cons
- Self-powered Polar Pickup System
- Maple top, back and body
- Hard foam case included
- Quarter inch jack output
- Amplification not part of the listing
- Stand inclusion not confirmed
- Material field says stainless steel
Performance notes
The pickup system turns string vibration into an electrical signal that goes to an amplifier or effects, and it is described as self-powered. The maple body carries the vibration to the pickup, so the signal reflects how the player bows. The tonal range depends on the effects and amp it is paired with.
