Overview
Maxcatch's tenkara combo bundles a telescoping fly rod, sold in six length options from 9 to 13 feet, with the line, tippet, flies and accessories needed to fish tenkara-style, built from IM8+10 carbon fiber in a 7:3 action.
Tenkara fishing skips a reel, so the combo bundles what you need instead: a furled tenkara line, monofilament tippet, pre-tied flies on size #10 and #12 hooks, a floating fly box, hook keepers and a line nipper. Buyers choose their length at checkout based on the water they fish, from close-quarters small streams up to longer 13 foot rods for more open casting.
- 9 to 13 ft telescoping tenkara rod, 7:3 action
- IM8+10 carbon fiber construction
- Combo includes line, tippet, flies and fly box
- Six rod length and zoom options to choose from
Who it's for
Fits anglers new to or already fishing tenkara-style who want a rod plus the line, flies and accessories in one purchase rather than sourcing each piece separately. Not for anglers who want a reel-based fly rod setup.
Pros and cons
- Six rod lengths from 9 to 13 feet
- Combo includes line, tippet, flies and fly box
- Lightweight IM8+10 carbon fiber build
- Hook keepers and line nipper included for on-water use
- No reel, since tenkara rods fish without one
Performance notes
The rod is built from IM8+10 carbon fiber in a 7:3 action, meaning the bend is weighted toward the tip, and it's pitched as light enough for extended casting while still holding up against larger fish such as trout. The included furled line and monofilament tippet are sized to pair with the rod length chosen.
