Overview
Breville's Compact Wave microwave packs a 0.9 cu ft, 900W cavity behind a soft-close door engineered to run 80% quieter than a standard slam-shut door, with one-touch buttons for reheat, defrost, popcorn and beverage.
The defining feature here isn't power, it's noise: no confirmation beep on start, no chime sequence at the end, and a door that closes itself gently rather than banging shut.
- 0.9 cu ft / 25L capacity, 900W
- 80% quieter soft-close door
- One-touch Reheat, Defrost, Popcorn, Beverage buttons
- Child Lock and mutable Sound Suite
Who it's for
Shoppers replacing a noisy, beeping microwave who have counter space for a compact 0.9 cu ft unit and want simple one-touch functions over a full digital keypad.
Pros and cons
- Soft-close door and muted sound suite run notably quiet
- One-touch shortcuts cover reheat, defrost, popcorn and beverage
- Compact 0.9 cu ft footprint fits tight counter spots
- One reported unit failure within under a year of light use
- Dark gray interior makes food harder to see despite the interior light
Performance notes
The dedicated Defrost setting runs lower power levels to thaw without drying out edges, and Reheat similarly moderates power to avoid overcooking. Child Lock and a mute option for the Breville Sound Suite let you cut most of the beeping other microwaves default to.
