Overview
Not a general action camera with a strap kit, the Fire Cam Onyx ships with a mount made for US style fire helmets and brim style helmets. It records ultra high definition or high frame rate full HD video with date and time stamps.
A ready-to-mount fire helmet kit with a card included means it is usable on the first shift. The listing marks it not water resistant, so hose spray and rain are a concern.
Who it's for
Fire departments and individual firefighters recording drills and calls get a brim-ready mount and stamped footage. Divers and paddlers need a waterproof action camera.
Pros and cons
- Fire helmet mount included
- 32GB card in the box
- Time and date stamp
- Auto power on record
- Not water resistant
- Battery life only a few hours
- Low light claim not quantified
Performance notes
Footage stability depends on the electronic stabilization and the mount staying tight on the brim. High frame rate modes allow slow-motion playback, while the top resolution captures more detail at a normal frame rate.
