Overview
Not a standard acoustic harp, the Rocket Amp closes off its cover sides so every bit of volume goes into a cupped microphone. Five keys cover common blues and rock jams, and rounded comb edges keep the mouthpiece comfortable.
Amplified blues players get a full set of common keys tuned for the cupped-mic sound. Closed covers stop sound escaping sideways from the hands. Without a mic, the closed sides make it less open than vented models.
Who it's for
Stage players cupping a mic get five ready keys built for amplification. Front-porch players who play unplugged would get more from a vented model.
Pros and cons
- Five common keys in one set
- Closed sides feed the mic
- Comfortable rounded comb
- Recessed reed plates
- Less open sound unplugged
- No mic included
Performance notes
Amplified tone depends on how much sound reaches the mic, and the closed cover sides channel it all forward into the cupped hands. Larger air channels let the reeds move freely for volume. Comfort comes from the rounded comb and recessed plates during long sets.
