Overview
Sunny Health & Fitness's Twist Stepper, model SF-S0979, is a mini stair stepper with a V shaped twisting motion, so the pedals swing side to side rather than moving straight up and down. It ships with adjustable resistance bands for arm and upper body work, hydraulic cylinders for the stepping resistance, and a digital monitor for time, count, and calories.
- V shaped twisting step motion
- Adjustable step height and resistance bands included
- Digital monitor for time, count, calories
- Hydraulic cylinders for quiet operation
Who it's for
Works well for people wanting a compact, low impact cardio option they can use in front of the television, including renters or apartment dwellers without room for a full stepper or bike. Less suited to anyone planning long, continuous steady state sessions.
Pros and cons
- Compact enough for small apartments or shared living spaces
- Quiet hydraulic operation suited to watching TV while working out
- Resistance bands add upper body work without extra equipment
- Hydraulic cylinders can heat up with continuous use, so sessions are best kept short
- Arm bands go unused by some buyers who focus on the stepping motion
Performance notes
Hydraulic cylinders provide the stepping resistance, and the tension knob adjusts range of motion, with a smaller range giving a higher step count for the same time.
