Overview
A special-edition Game & Watch handheld marking Super Mario Bros' 35th anniversary, preloaded with Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, and a Mario-themed version of Ball, plus a digital clock display when not in use.
The design revives Nintendo's original 1980 Game & Watch, the first handheld gaming device the company made, in a golden-colored anniversary casing. Unlike a modern console, its game library is fixed at the three built-in titles with no way to download or add more. When idle it switches to a digital clock, so it can sit out as a display piece between play sessions.
- Built-in Super Mario Bros, Lost Levels, and Ball
- Doubles as a digital clock
- 35th anniversary special edition design
- Styled after the original 1980 Game & Watch
Who it's for
Collectors and longtime Mario fans who want a self-contained nostalgia piece tied to a notable anniversary. Not for players who want an expandable game library or modern online features.
Pros and cons
- Includes the original Super Mario Bros and Lost Levels
- Doubles as a digital clock when not playing
- Tied to a recognizable 35th anniversary release
- Compact, self-contained unit with no setup
- Fixed library of three games with no way to add more
- Functions more as a collectible than a full console
- No online or multiplayer features
Performance notes
The unit runs Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels as playable games, plus a Mario-themed version of the classic Ball minigame. There is no cartridge slot or download store, so the library never changes after purchase. Outside of gameplay it functions as a digital clock, which is the main reason it can double as a desk piece rather than something put away in a drawer.
